crank postion senser and cel

Cel came on today.
codes p0320 (crank sensor)
and p0138 (o2 sensor

i can here the crank position sensor click on and off about every 5 seconds and it runs for about 2
while this happens the engine revs go up about 100rpm.
i can even feel it in my shifter knob a bit.

im guessing the 02 sensor code might be cause of the crank sensor?

should i replace my crank sensor first? or what should i do?

Are there even any moving parts in the crank sensor? cause i deffinetly feel and hear something comming from the bell housing area of the tranny.

Well, a couple things... if you are hearing a rhythmic noise coming from the tranny, you might pull the CPS and check the end. It has happened before that the CPS will start interfering with your reluctor ring on your flywheel/flex plate. This is often the case if your flex plate/flywheel is cracked or warped. I have had it happen before at any rate.

I don't know on your particular motor, but if it has an inspection plate you might check it.

I think some of the newer CPS's sit in an enclosed pocket, so it wouldn't strike the CPS, but the ring could still be damaged causing a slight oscillation, which would set off an error.

Something to check anyhow.

If your CEL comes back on, and the noise comes back more strongly, definitely check your flexplate/flywheel and reluctor ring. Mine did almost exactly the same thing. Running oddly for a bit then it straightened back up, but I could still hear a noise. Then one day it just died and when I turned it over I heard a terrible rattling. Took the inspection plate cover off and bits of flex plate fell out and my reluctor ring along with the outer part of my flexplate could be moved by hand.

I dont think its the flex plate or anything, the sound doesnt sound like that at all, every 10 seconds it clicks on runs for about 2 seconds and turns off, i think the flex plate would be going a bit faster than that.

Cel came back on with the same codes
a mechanic said it could be the cam sensor maybe cause symptoms of a bad rank sensor are rought idle and stalling. And my jeep runs good as new.

Ok so now the sound and cel only seem to happen when it rains outside, so i guess some wire is exposed somewhere i guess. Gotta look into it.
