crankshaft position sensor

I need need help!!!! I changed the throwout bearing on my 2005 jeep wrangler x. while taking out the transmission to get to the bearing I broke the crankshaft position sensor. I went to the dealership to purchase a new one., after replacing the sensor the jeep will start but idles real rough, also the rpm guage is jumping up and down while jeep is running. Can anyone give me some advice.

I think you may need to reset your computer. Disconnect the battery overnight. Should do the trick...

Thank you very much for the response I have tried that already with no luck. Do you know if the sensor has a rubber grommet that holds it in place from the inside???
