Google jeep 4bt swap, there are kits --and adaptors for that swap
Most 4bts put out 94 hp but the torque is pretty high
I'd expect a 4bt to be equalivant to a 4.0 i6
YouTube has a few vids also

I swapped a 6BT out of my lafitte skiff and installed a 6BTAM2. This was an increase from 210 HP to 370 HP...Un freaking believable!

4BT is a bullet proof cummins diesel. Once you figure out the marriage between it and your trans you are in for a simple deal. You will have to plumb a fuel return line to your tank but that aint no big deal.

PS: If a diesel wont run..... it is a fuel problem.

If I had the money I would have done this already. But I don't yes a stock driveline can live with this motor (not the D35). As long as you don't drive crazy but with the torque it makes it wouldn't take but a slip off the clutch and you would twist the driveshaft into a pretzel if not more. Most people that do this swap use the nv4500 and go to d60's.

The 3.9L 4bt has much more power than our 4.0 I6. We just threw a Cummins 4bt into my buddy's FJ60 LandCruiser. His truck probably weighs almost 2x my Jeep and has 35's. That little Cummins moves it around with ease. Looking back at the spec sheet the Cummins pulls 265lb-ft @ 1600 rpm and the Jeep is running approx 235lb-ft @3200 rpm.

It's always been my dream to throw a little 4BT3.9 into something, and they can easily be found in old frito lay/bread trucks. The engine would most likely an improvement in efficiency but it's certainly no powerhouse unless modified and it's inherently unbalanced compared to the 6BT...it's definitely going to be less smooth than the 4.0. That being said, they're great little engines and I work around them almost every day because we have generator sets with them.
