Custom center console.

97 TJ SE 5 speed..

I want a center console, mostly as an arm rest And they look nice. But people want 175 bucks or more for a used one!

Has anyone made their own? If so let's see it

Just keep looking. I sold mine for $100 and that included shipping. They are out there just takes a while to find sometimes. Most of the built ones are going to be something out of an ammo can. If you are into that, some people will have them for examples.

I made my own. I have maybe 25 bucks in it.

Made from 1 x 12 shelving grade lumber from Lowe's. I used wood filler to get a smooth texture, then bedlined it inside and out with Rust-Oleum truck bed coating to make it water resistant. I'm going to do an overhead console next.

If I had access to the equipment and materials, I'd do it out of steel or aluminum. I don't, but I have lots of woodworking stuff, so that's what I went with.

I'd give 65-75 bucks for any color factory console

Keep your eyes peeled on Craigslist. I've a few listed for cheap when I was too broke to get it. I've seen 2 on there for 25 bucks. I had a guy on Pirate offer me one for 50 bucks + shipping. The deals are out there if you look around.

Holy pocketbook, Batman!!! $500 for a console? That is expensive!! The ammo can on spacers is a good idea, though...

I don't know if you're still looking for one but here's one I just made. Took me a few hours a night this week after I came home from work. It houses my amp and wires because I have a stereo free setup for my music. Oh and it's out of an old ammo can if you couldn't tell from the picture.

I don't see why people complain and switch out their center console. I have a 99 sport 5 speed and the console to me at least seems to have PLENTY of space inside. is there anything im missing?

Not all jeeps have consoles. Some only have half consoles. In 2002 they added the option for a sub in the console. I swapped my full stock console in my 98 for a full sub console from an 05 model. Just different things to do to make your Jeep your own. As far as storage space, yes your console has plenty, again everybody does not have that luxury.

A guy near me just got a sub console (with sub and amp) as well as soundbar with harness for $200 from a local junk yard. Worth a shot if you have any around.

I thought I recognized the volume knob. I'm looking at getting one for my daughter's blazer. How do you like it?

I love it. It sounds great even with my top and doors off driving around.

Try this place over the years I have bought a lot from them. The place is a junk yard on steroids. It is a large chain with a very good inventory system. They can get it if it is at any of there locations.

As with any salvage place, don't be afraid to negotiate the price.

Best of luck.
