mine runs through the rear. the cable goes from the back to inside the glove box. the previous owner put it in so assuming its all the same brand it would be made by alpine.

pics were taken with my cell phone in night mode so its crappy and will get light burns no matter what i do and the flash washes out everything. lights are still on factory dimmer and dim maybe 1/3 as much as stock bulbs do but we will see if i can get them to a desired light level when it gets dark out

I ordered this one yesterday, it has the rear USB port. I plan on stashing a thumb drive in the glovebox

I also ordered this locking cover, but it's on backorder

Most $150+ HUs that don't have a front USB drive have it in the rear w/ an extension cable. My Pioneer has one and I have a 16GB Flash Drive hooked up to it. The problem with most HUs is that they don't provide enough juice to power a pocket external drive. So the Western Digital drives won't work. I've even hooked up a Maxtor w/ it's own power outlet and that wouldn't work. Plus you have to be careful with larger flash drives, mine does sometimes take a second to load everything and it's not always 100% reliable. If you're looking for mass storage, a car pc is still the way to go or just have a junk ipod or zune with a broken LCD screen hooked up to it You'll pay as much for one of those as you will a external and the ipod interface is 10x better organized.

i forgot to ask if it was dimmed all the way. hows the glare with them at night? my cd player has the same color blue but it dims down half way when i turn the lights on and i can dim it more with the dimmer. mine puts out a wicked glare at half power and thats just the cd player. even the factory lights put out some glare at night

I have white LED's in my dash... This is probably more like what the OP's dash looks like:

It really isn't bright at all, just sharp and crisp.

I also have an Alpine with iPod/XM. My iPod has the cord in back and it runs into the Tuffy console storage, so it is always connected and always secure. My XM antenna is in my soundbar and hidden well. My HU controls it all very well.

To the OP, looks really good. I'm interested in the Iggee's as well. What color combination is that?

Man that brushed aluminum bezel looks awesome! Was that a one off custom job or did you find it somewhere and order it?

So what would you prefer for dash lights, blue or red? Or maybe even ice white?
