Cut off by ford explorer...

Hey, just wanted to post some pics of my jeep after someone failed to yield their left turn to my straight through an intersection.

My 6 year old sister and I were fine and the other driver was also. Just minor back pains.

So the explorer cut in front of me while I was going trough the intersection at about 25-30 mph. Hit passenger front of me and passenger front side of her. Tire gripped and climbed up an fell quickly. She plowed through it and never stopped. From what I seen, she broke the tie rod at the knuckle of passenger front tire, bent the fender, bent the flare, smashed my lights, bent my smittybilt bumper, bent the passenger front trac bar(I believe it is called) and possibly bent the axle. Luckily I clutched before I hit her and it did not stall during the accident. Starts fine and all that and was no leaking fluid under the jeep.

Won't be inspected till tomorrow or Monday and I am praying it's all fixable and I'll get it back. Other drive was found 100% at fault and is fully liable for cost and was issued ticket for failure to yield. Thank god she has insurance by the way

Sounds like all that is fixable as long as the frame is not racked. But if it adds up over $8K-$9K in repairs...they may Total it.

My last jeep was bought for 7000 and the insurance paid out over 8500 but if I were you I would keep it for salvage for a few hundred less this way you can keep what you might miss and part out the rest

One more reason for me to hate Ford Explorers. It never fails that Explorer drivers tend to be 1000% more rude that the most expensive Mercedes driver. Why? I have no idea, but it is almost always the case, at least when I'm on the road.

Glad you guys are all right. That's the most important thing. Hope Jeep is back up and running soon!

It shows how strong those RC CA's are. I was hit in the same place but on the drivers side in Oct., I had the stock CA's still, it turned them into pretzels and pushed my axle back. I was sitting still and the car that hit me was doing 40+mph, the driver turned out to be drunk.

Glad to hear yall are ok. Just goes to show how well Jeeps are built and how safe they actually are. I bet that explorer was destroyed.

I know if I owned an Exploder, I'd be pissed.

I got hit just like that (someone not yielding through an intersection) but my truck didnt fair as well as your Jeep did. My truck (tacoma below) was hit by a full size truck. It rolled a couple of times, then I got the pleasure of being cut out by the jaws of life. Glad to hear you your sister and the other drive come out alright.

Dont let the insurance screw you over. My insurance inspector said that all the suspension damage was from offroading and they only wanted to cover the body damage. I had to do all the work myself and send them the bill.

I have an Explorer and I am offended by your biased opinion. I consider myself to be a very safe and courteous driver.
I could name 10 vehicle makes that people drive like idiots all day long.

Let's leave that subject alone please. Didn't make this thread to bash other people. Just posting pics of my jeep and updating after an accident.
