Cut Wire in Dash!!! What is it?!

Hello,
I was replacing my head unit and cut a seemingly unrelated wire. It is a black wire that looks like it would be just a normal copper wire, but is instead a coax. It is connected to a small black box that rests behind the heater controls on the left half of the dash opening. It has a thing on it that says it is FCC approved or whatever. It is a little bit bigger than a deck of cards.

I have a 1997 TJ Sport.

Everything is running fine and there are no lights on the dash.

In the manual there was a huge warning about cutting airbag wires and I wanted to make sure that is not what was cut.
The fact that it is coax and near the stereo and that it didn't throw any lights on the dash and everything runs leads me to believe it was part of the old stereo set up that I am no longer using.

I just wanted to know what it is that was cut, and if it needs to be replaced. It looks like it would be quite a job to replace it because it goes directly into the black box.

Thanks!

Update!
A black circular thing fell out from under the glove box that is 1/4in thick and 3-4 in in diameter and somewhat flexible?
It is what was cut off.

This. Otherwise, we'll be forced to do the whole "Is it bigger than a bread box?" thing.

I think I figured it out..
I have Lo Jack, I'm thinking the antenna looking thing is the antenna to the Lo Jack.
Hence the need for the FCC passing regulations and the antenna and no lights adn everything working.

Thanks for the responses and sorry I had no pictures

Do you have FM reception? The previous owner could have had an FM modulator installed for an audio input; that's what the black box with the FCC sticker could have been. If it's coax wire, it's not for the airbag; airbag harnesses are generally covered with a yellow or orange sleeve, and are not coax.
