d44 from a grand cheerokee

Does anybody know if a d44 from a 99 grand cheerokee will work in a 98 tj or what would have to be changed over and what is different. Thanks

this comes up all the time.

no it won't work, and it's not a D44. it's a D44a. the "a" is for aluminum. the reason they're so cheap is because even the ZJ/WJ guys don't want them.

Ok thanks just saw it on cl and was wondering, trying to get the jeep back on the road since the spider gears stripped out on the d35 this past weekend

Not only is it aluminum & not strong enough to make installing it worthwhile, its bracket geometry is way different from a TJ's so it wouldn't bolt up without a lot of work to move the brackets around.

Thanks jerry, just sourcing options so I can get the jeep back on the road, but on to the next option ig, ill keep checking cl and junkyards though
