Dana 35

i thought i might be a good idea to change the diff fluid being as the previous owner never did and it now has 120,000 miles...

dark green soup pours out and i get it all brake cleaned

get my head in there a little closer and notice something...

and guess what i find has been dinging the heck out of the inside of my cover and residing in the bottem of the diff?

Close it back up and act like i didnt see it? 8.8 has been at the top of my summer list for some time now anyway...

i also did the Dana 30 up front since i added the aussie a few thousand miles ago, luckly nothing was wrong this that one!

Yep, that pinion is junk now. Is the ring wearing alright? Can't tell from the pix but if you are going to replace the entire axle, at least you can close it up, give it a dose of new fluid and drive it until you get that fomoco part in.

i agree with a good time to upgrade. but if its not the right time, from the pic it looks like just the spider gears. obviously i can't see the whole thing, and its possible more got damaged. but if its just the spiders, thats not a ver big deal to fix.
