dana 44 vs ford 8.8

I wanna know what everybody thinks on this matter. Sounds like the 8.8 is easier to find, cheaper, and better. 44 just has better ground clearance

The 8.8 is stronger but if you already have a d44 it is not worth the upgrade.

I've personally had neither, but what I've read says the 8.8 is easier to find, but mods are required to install where a 44 is a direct bolt on...

I have an 8.8 in mine and have built several for other TJs as well. It is a great axle but you will need an aftermarket bracket set $300 and someone to weld it up for you if you can not do it yourself.
A Dana 44 from another tj will be a direct bolt on, but you will need to make sure that your gear ratio matches the front axle.
