Dana 44 with Air Lockers

I found a set of Dana 44 front and rear complete units with 4.10's for $3000. They are from a 2004 or 2005 Rubicon with 50k miles. How hard an install would this be on my 2002 TJ with the 4.0 and 5spd? I know they have the "stock" air lockers not sure about what is needed extra. I figure then I can sell my current Dana 44 rear and Dana 30's with the 3.73 gears and recoup some of my money. Is this a feasible idea?

Yea they should bolt up mo problem, they might be just a tad wider, I believe the Rubi axles are at 62"

You'll need the (2) air pumps for them that typically mount on the T-case skid, but might be better off moutning in egine compartment.

I think that you'll also need to chage driveshafts, I dont think that the earlier TJ's are the same length and u-joints.

Hopefully the axles come with the air lines and wiring harness as well for them. Otherwise will have to wire them and install your own locker switches. Have them on separate switches is better anyways.

Sounds like a good deal, it also sounds like someone who is going to be buying a Rubi better check to make sure they are getting what they pay for. That sort of 'deal' has been happening a lot out there. I found two used ones that were Rubicons but both had their stock axles and such swapped for D30/D35 set-ups. The dealerships, of course, still wanted full Rubicon value.

Bang for the buck it sounds like you have a potential bargain!
