I just did this a week ago....buy the correct paint... and take the time to take a part the whole dash and clean it all really well... u wont be able to take off the air bag cover (its riveted) so u will need to paint that in its place. and as for how it holds up... i have no idea yet

I did mine about a month ago...

Adhesion promoter, primer, some wet sanding, paint, more wet sanding, clear, more wet sanding, buff... then wax if you want to.

Weird... I couldn't find the pic. But here's the link to the very short thread I did when completed.

+1!!

The tan interior (dash + seats) kills the blue and black exterior....would love to redo the dash and seats, probably would go black.

i just did the inside of my full doors yesterday. i used dupli color vinyl dash spray paint in gray. its a little lighter than the stock grey but looks ten times better than the brown.

I'm using that same stuff, dupli- color. And so far it seems to be working really well! I simply wash each piece then give it a quick sanding then paint! I put about 5 to 6 coats on each piece! I think I'm gonna paint the air bag cover black and try to paint a JL logo on it cause I have their audio equipment or I was even thinking about buying a stick on eBay but I'll be sure to keep uploading pics as I go

That looks great I've wanted to do that but didn't know how it would turn out. Where did you buy the paint. Also, what are you planning to do with the the rollbar padding? I have heard you can dye it but not sure.

i'd say you can get the paint at any auto shop. i got mine at VIP. but i doubt you're this far north. i'm sure there must be an advanced auto or something similar that carries vinyl/dash spray paint. but they might carry a different brand of paint, i doubt you'll see much difference though.

I bought my paint at advanced auto. And I'm pretty sure autozone has the paint too.

As for my roll bar padding I'm leaving original since I want all my interior to be blacked out and changing my dash gages to blue!

YES! Please keep me up to date with your paint project. I need to do the same thing to my tj. The junkyards want a fortune for some jacked up dashboards.

Please be as detailed as possible. My wifes concern is about peeling, but we can not stand the tan color anymore.

Tan dash on a white jeep looks horrible in my opinion. Especially with black fender flares.

I'm not a fan of the yellow, but it looks pretty cool! I think if I were to do mine I'd limit it to just the center stack, not sure how the vents would look in red.

i used rustolium sivler metallic on all of it, it gives it a pretty cool shine to it especially in the sun (the paint was made for the interior too - bonded to the plastic right away)
