My blower switch came in last week and the dealership parts store was closed on Saturday and is only open weekdays until 5 and I work so my friend went and picked it up for me. I ordered a fan blower switch (switch that controls the speed levels for your heat and AC). They fricken sent a cruise control switch. Like how do you mess that up!? Now I gotta go back Christmas Eve day and return it and reorder it and probably not get it for another week. Frickenn idiots. I mean I can partially blame my friend for not opening it up and looking at it first before he left but then again he doesn't know what the part is suppose to look like.

i cant begin to tell you how dumb some of the dealership (across the USA), from estimators to mechanics to who even answer's the phone. I specify parts for Chrysler for the greater part of the MidWesst and man i wish i could record these convos about " No, sir by the vin# you gave me, that is convertible Caliber , not a 200" and they respond " but im looking at the car and the vin"
its a huge joke in the office when these things happen. There are days where i refuse to sell a parts bc i know it wont fit on that car.

Reminds me of when I got hit last fall (Oct '13) in our '14 Sahara. INsurance adjuster had a hard time figuring out how much to pay for the vehicle....after about ten minutes of us going over the VIN on the phone, and his computer telling him the VIN was not correct, he finally called his supervisor...who explained that the '14s weren't in the computer yet. and he than called the dealer to find out how much they should pay us for the Jeep. Our dealer likes us is all I can say....... ;)

Not only are are there idiots working at dealerships, a certain part supplier has not made me very happy in the recent past. Sent me the wrong part to fix a break in one of the soft rear fuel lines. If they had sent me the correct part, I would never have gotten a parking ticket. But they didn't, and as of now I have $180 of parking tickets. Told me they were going to overnight the correct part, well they didn't do that either. Had to pay UPS to hold the package until I got back from home for the holidays. They had a whole week to get me the correct part. Didn't happen.

interesting thread here but it makes me wonder who is the "dumber".... the dealer or those of us who are going into the dealer..... :atomic:
Sometimes you don't have a choice but to go to the dealership.

Where else are you going to find those bolts (that have the 6 points torx heads) that hold the doors to the door hinges?

(BTW-
Specialty Item.
And the dealership knows it.
$5.50 each.)

I get touch up paint from the dealer when I need it. It's always a perfect match and it really isn't all that expensive! Plus my dad works for jeep so he gets that hefty 6 parts discounted a year. Get a good 20 or 25% off which is awesome.

When I had my 2005 Grand Cherokee, I had to take it to the dealership way too often. One of the reasons I traded it in for my last TJ. The location of the starter, mixed with the fact that it didn't have watertight connections, meant that if I went through a puddle the wrong way it would splash all over that sucker. And if I tried to start it again while it was wet, the entire electric system would go haywire (lights flashing while its off, doors locking and unlocking, and this would last all night until the battery died. Try to take the battery out, then add the alarm to the mix).
They kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the design, I finally got them to wrap electrical tape over the connection (getting them to do this wasn't easy, which I think is ridiculous. I ended up printing out a whole thread on the problem, which stated why it was happening).

This exact thing happened 3 times. Luckily I only had to pay for it to get fixed once.
