Detroit Lockers

Being a newbee, I was told my Jeep had Detroit lockers front and rear. Through alot of reading here, pretty sure the back is because on slow hard turns I can feel the back wheel kick in. How can I tell if the front is autolocker, without taking it apart?

Thanks for any help

putting it on a RTI ramp without disco'ing the swaybay would do the trick

Sorry CMA, I'm still new to the world of Jeeps. I understand about no disco'ing the sway bar, but what's an RTI ramp?

Ramp travel index, it measures flex. Looks kinda like those ramps people pull their cars on to change oil, except its about 5 ft tall amd you only drive up it with one side

You'll never know what you have in your diffs until you pull the covers off and look.

He doesn't have to take his diff cover off too see if they lock though. Put the front end on jack stands and spin one tire with your hands. The other one should spin too.

that wont work on auto lockers because you have to have torquefrom the driveshaft to engage it

You could wrap a recovery strap around a big tree, hook it to the jeep and pop it into 4-low in the dirt. That should do it

Or, just remove a few bolts, pop the cover off, take a picture and post it up here. You probably need to change the fluid anyway.

Taking both differential covers off and posting good sharp well lit close-up photos of the differential inside here is the only sure way to find out if indeed your have Detroit Lockers inside your axles.
