dick cepek dc2 hub spacing????

Hello, I bought a set of cepek dc2 15 x 8. for my 2002 wrangler. Today the mechanic at my local tire shop was installing them and said that I need a hub center ring that goes from inside diameter of the rim to outside diameter of hub on jeep. Does not make any sense to me at all and never heard of that before. I asked shop were I bought wheels from and aslo talked to supplier and say you do not need anything but wheel and lugs.

If this make any sense or if any has put these rims on before are the fine just to bolt up.

Thanks.

I have DC's and did not have to install those rings. Just put them on and enjoy!

Never heard of that before!! I think the shop is trying to get more money out of you. I have a buddy that's running those rims on his 03' TJ and didn't have to put those on!!

I believe he meant a Hub Centric ring. Yes he is right. The Jeeps wheel are Hub Centric, meaning that the wheel is centered by the hub NOT the lug nuts. It is a better system. You get a lot less vibration from the wheel, a lot less stress on the lug nuts. You can run a non centric wheel but it's not the best wheel. It's like Oil, you can use good oil in your jeep or you can just buy the cheapest Wal-mart brand who will know? And who cares? Well I care about my Jeep I would buy the rings.

Ok thanks Guys I appreciate the advice.

I ended finding a shop today and got them installed. They seem to seat nice on hub but when I am going 50mph I get a really bad shake in sterring wheel almost uncontrollable.. My only quess would be a bad balance as tires were fine before.

Check the torque on the lugs.... Star pattern, about 100 ftlbs...

Also decided that I am going to order a 4inch rough country lift.

Anyone know what the hub for a 2006 X is to get the right sizing of hub centric rings with the DC-2's?
