Thanks to all for the diff. ID info.
Now my next question concerns a differential upgrade for better off road performance; using what I already have with the stock 30 & 35 units. My off roading driving generally will consist of varmint hunting in low elevation foothills and deer hunting using 4x4 National Forest trails, in the higher elevations. Most of the trails are of the mild to moderate type with occasional steep grades of which may have small rocks and loose soil or shale. And sometimes rain soaked trails, but rarely snow or ice. For years I got by with my able 46 CJ2A with 60 HP flat head and stock open diffenetials and no winch. Yes I still have this rig & will never sell her. But I'm longer in "tooth" now and like the TJ comforts.
For the 02 TJ I'm thinking of adding a limited slip in the rear Dana 35 and maybe another LSD in the front Dana 30 or possibly a auto locker for the front. From what I've read on this forum many folks are not too keen with adding a locker on a 30, but considering the type of grandpa wheeling I will do; this may be ok. I have added a new winch to the new girl, so that's more security---I think!
So how can I keep the expense down but add more trail security to my newer rig? Your thoughts please.
