Differentials?????

Hi to all. Got a question on my new/used 2002 Wrangler Sport; dealing with Differential ID. Been reading various post about the subject and I think I have a good idea on what differentials are in the 02. But my differential ID numbers don't match totally with what others have written in their posts. The rear diff. housing has a tag on it which reads 52111763AE on the first line and under it a second line reads 3.73 6656-5 So I have 3.73 gears and I assume it's a Dana 35C?? The front diff. tag reads on the first line 52099200AD and on the bottom of the tag it reads3.73 611114-4. Again 3.73 gears and a Dana 30???? I looked at the rest of the axel housing and have not found any other identifying marks. Besides the gear ratio can anyone tell me what the other numbers on the diff. tags mean?

Don't go by what the tags say. Look at the size and shape. Then spin your tire one complete turn and see how many rotations your driveshaft makes. That will give you your gear size.

If you haven't gotten more out of the insurance company than you deserve, then you haven't screwed them nearly as much as they have been screwing you for the past xx years.

Next Diffential Question

Thanks to all for the diff. ID info.

Now my next question concerns a differential upgrade for better off road performance; using what I already have with the stock 30 & 35 units. My off roading driving generally will consist of varmint hunting in low elevation foothills and deer hunting using 4x4 National Forest trails, in the higher elevations. Most of the trails are of the mild to moderate type with occasional steep grades of which may have small rocks and loose soil or shale. And sometimes rain soaked trails, but rarely snow or ice. For years I got by with my able 46 CJ2A with 60 HP flat head and stock open diffenetials and no winch. Yes I still have this rig & will never sell her. But I'm longer in "tooth" now and like the TJ comforts.
For the 02 TJ I'm thinking of adding a limited slip in the rear Dana 35 and maybe another LSD in the front Dana 30 or possibly a auto locker for the front. From what I've read on this forum many folks are not too keen with adding a locker on a 30, but considering the type of grandpa wheeling I will do; this may be ok. I have added a new winch to the new girl, so that's more security---I think!
So how can I keep the expense down but add more trail security to my newer rig? Your thoughts please.
