dimming a rocker light

I want to add a rocker and i would like to have the light on the rocker only come on when i turn the head lights on (i want the rocker to light up when the gauges in the jeep light up) and i would like it to dim with the gauges. can someone please provide me with some info which wire to tap into.

Depends on the type of switch you have. The cheaper rockers have three terminals: 12V hot, ground (for the light), and load. These will not light the way you want. Lamp comes on when the switch is on.

You need a switch that has seperate terminals just for the lamp.

You need to find the wire that supplies the heater control module lamps. That dims with the cluster lights.

I have a dual indicator switch from otrattw wheree one le is independent from the position
