Dinging sound..

So I was riding around today on my GFs farm, off the gravel road just goofing off.. Noting fast but I noticed that when I was hitting some uneven bumps and rocking from side to side, I was hearing a dinging sound coming from the floorboard.. It isnt a high pitched sound, it is a deep sound and I can feel it every time..

Then, just to see what was going on, I decided to pay closer attention. I turned my radio down and hit the main road. I have noticed that it makes the same sound when turn sharp at high speeds...

Anyone have a clue what this could be?? Does it sound like something bad??

Thanks!

Could be a lot of things. I just changed a front right axel u-joint that would fit that description. I'd check u-joints, bushings on control arms and discos, tie rod ends and steering just to name a few. Won't take long. Just pull, pry, and look at it.

Turning sharp at high speeds in a Jeep is going to be way more expensive than anything underneath that is making noise ( unless it's a small child!). But no, I doubt it's anything expensive. It's really hard to tell what it is by describing it and not hearing it in person. Just crawl around underneath your Jeep with some gloves on and look for something loose, bent or leaking.

Did you find what was making the noise?

The only thing I can think of that would make a dinging sound is gravel hitting the driveshaft. The driveshaft is hollow and if you tap on it, it will make a ding sound.

No.. I got under it and pulled around and couldnt feel anything lose.. Its not gravle because it does it on hard top and in the grass. I dont think it is vital to anything because it doenst affect how I drive but I was riding around with my brother and he said he could feel it on the passenger side when it happens... I think im going to end up taking it to a body shop or something.

Just throwing ideas out there, but maybe it is a body mount. If you can feel it in the cab that would be on of my first guesses.

Is that gonna be a bad thing??? I mean will it be a hassel to repiar?? When I bought the jeep I also bought a 3 year warranty on anything drive train related... I dont think this will be covered under that warranty... Would it be expensive to fix or is it just a bolt or something that I can fix... I am on the kindergarden level of DIY repairs... LoL
