Dissapointed

I admit it, I'm touched,, I'm one of those guys that stock up on parts.. Tires, batteries, brake pads, rotors. Bulbs, headlights, hoses, belts, etc etc. So, with 85k miles on my rig , I thought it best to stock up on some spicer u-joints for the rear driveline. When they arrived I checked them out and discovered, to my disappointment, that the trunnions are " made in china ". Is there no escape ???

What kind did you get? I think if you find a company that still has the old box design in stock those might be USA made- but idk.

Kinda off topic but I bought a new pair of work boots (Justin's) and I didn't notice till I got home that on the inside it said made in china. I think it's inevitable. And upon further investigation so are red wing timberland and wolverine.

That's how I felt a few years ago when the wife got me a Craftsman air compressor for my birthday. I was blown away... Literally. The thing leaked air everywhere. As I was looking around I saw "made in china" just about everywhere. It's a shame. Maybe people will vote for the American this time, it can't hurt. Lol.

Not all of them but their high quality ones. I checked the other day lookin for a new one. They also use some china steel in USA manufacturing. But they have several blades that are 100% USA. The cheaper ones are not.

FYI:
When it says "Made in USA", it doesn't always mean it's REALLY made in USA.
If they assemble it here, if they add a piece to it and repackage it here, they can claim it's "Made in USA".

I read once where a company was buying 2 component pieces (I forget now what it was) in china, putting them together in Cali, and they could then label it Made in USA.

So what is your point? We all know that, at least Spicer was honest about it..

There is a percentage of work that has to be done in USA to be made in USA. There is also another label that can be used but I forget what it is. If you do a little research you can figure stuff out.

You can still get the ones made in England. I bought some off of their website. The only problem is they were over $200!

I know of one company (not jeep related) that puts a small American flag next to the part number of all products made in the USA. Wish everyone did it!

Don't get me wrong,....I hate the fact that all this stuff is being made in China, but just because it is, doesn't mean that it's automatically inferior. Yes, if it is being produced by a Chineese company it normally is, but "normally" if it is being produced by an American company to that companies specifications and tolerances, it just becomes a matter of production location....still doesn't mean we have to like it, and when given a choice, I will always by the USA stuff.

Benchmade...
Spyderco...

I asked if the wheels I was ordering were made in the U.S.A and the guy looked at me like I was nuts. Turns out they are, they had no clue.
