Do the axles unlock when shifted into 4H or 2WD

Went out to Ocotillo Wells today (couple of pics below). In doing some light stuff in the dunes I locked both axles in 4L. Then unlocked them when we were done. I did not try this but if you shift out of 4L do they unlock themselves.?

Thanks

I'm assuming you have a Rubicon, I know the JK's Rubicon unlocks when shifting back into 2wd (my dad has a jk Rubi) so I would think it's safe to assume the TJ does also.

If you shift out of 4 low or exceed, i think 10mph, the factory rubicon lockers will unlock unless somebody has modified them to do otherwise.

Yes, we do have a Rubi. Thanks for the info. I think I read on one of the forums that there was mod to keep them locked even over 10mph . Not sure where you would use that

You would use that in a mud hole where high wheel speeds clean out the tread and all 4 wheels are needed to pull due to flex or loss of traction on one side. Or cruising around in sugar sand here in Florida.
