Do you guys think this sounds normal??

Hey,

So I've been looking for a TJ for a while and found this one a month ago but he was asking 9800 for it and it was too high and he wouldn't budge on the price now he re-posted it with the price of the offer i gave him for 6500. I watched the video he posted of showing the jeep and when he started it up it kind of sounds not normal. I'm not sure through since I've never heard a 4.0 in person and I've only had 2.5YJ. Could you guys watch the video and see what you think, maybe it's just normal and I'm not use to it.

Thanks!!

When I talked to him he said there was no modifications to the exhaust and should be stock. I'm going to check it out thursday and hopefully it's nothing bad.

its kinda hard to tell in the video. sometimes there is a starter tick that apparently plagues 4.0L TJ's. mine does it every once in a while, it sounds like chewbacca is in under my hood. Not sure what causes it, good price though for $6-7000.

Sounds like an exhaust leak, manifold maybe?

Yeah I figured it might be kind of hard to hear from the video and was hoping it will sound better in person. But does that starting ticking sounds have any performance problems? I don't really want to get into something that I need to repair the engine right away cause I just sold my YJ and had plenty of engine repairing.

That is no problem I can get that fixed for free. If that is the case then I have no problems with the jeep. I'm hoping that is what it is. Been without a jeep for 2 months and going crazy, I need a rig to customize.

the start up tick only happens when you first start it up. I've noticed that as soon as I let my clutch out, when its the first start up in the morning, it stops and I never hear it all day. I haven't seen any performance problems in my TJ, I've had for 5 years now.
