I am looking for some basic dimensions off of it, I am planning on fabbing my own based off this design.

Yep, I built them. If you like, when I get home, I'll get some better pics and email you what I did to fab them up. I got the tubing from work, it was scrap ( in case my boss is reading this...lol ) and I think I've got about $35. wrapped up in latches, mirrors and hardware.

This is a damn good idea. Always liked the look of them but can't really justify the price for pretty much nothing other then holding you in a little more then no doors. This is definitely on the growing list of projects now!

I used to run doorless, but I didn't like not having mirrors. They also help contain my dogs when I take them out with me. As for getting dimensions and pics... I never made it home last night. Lol. I'm heading that way right after work, so I'll get them then.

If someone would find me some full doors in red with gray panels, you could own some factory half doors.....

The dimensions of the doors are 36" x 12 5/8" and slopes down to 8 1/2". Remove the doors and use a piece of cardboard for a template. After I had the design that I wanted, I got some 1 1/4" square tubing (16 ga.) and bent pieces to fit. I added a bar with a piece of angle iron as a tab to hit interior light switch button ( got tired of pulling fuses). Weld it up!!!

Next, onto the hinges. 1/8 steel 5" x 1 3/4" cut to fit with a 3/8" hole for hinge pin. From center of hole to offset is 1". Use a 3/8" x 2 1/4" grade 8 bolt for pin and weld to hinge.

The latches are gate latches from Ace hardware. After I got the placement of he latch and welded it, I ground out the latch where the door pin hit it to add a little more depth to it.

If you take your time and make a template, you should have no problem building a set. I think mine took about a week. Total cost is somewhere around $60 including metal.

Good idea with the gate latches, do you find that they rattle at all?

Dam, I asked first. You can buy these new all day for $200 to $400 depending on what style you want. Getting Jeep-style handles seems to add to the price. I am guessing if someone wanted to start a side-gig, you could probably decrease the cost of materials by 20 to 30%, but you have to consider the time it takes to fabricate. Hard to compete against chinese mass production.

I have considered making and selling them but, the only thing stopping me is that I can't duplicate the radius of the bends at home. The set that I built for my jeep, I used a tube bender at work with dies specifically for bending square tubing. I do have a set of dies in progress but, there are a lot of other projects ahead of them. You may be able to bend round tubing without any kinking using a Harbor Freight tube bender. I personally think that he square tubing looks far better than the round.
