Does Anyone Have Additional Gauges Installed?

I have scanned several threads with no luck. I am wondering how many people have installed additional gauges and what kind in their Jeep. I am also curious about whether it was a custom gauge pod or some off the shelf setup.

I was looking at something like this:
http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=4500

or
http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=4503

I do not want to duplicate a gauge that already exists in dash, and I was think about oil temps in engine and tranny.

I would like to hear from others on what really needs to be monitored via and gauge and why. Also if there is an option for electronic or mechanical gauge what is the best option.

Lasty, who makes the best gauge?

When I converted from a 5-speed to an automatic transmission, I installed a transmission temperature gauge in one of those two gauge "pods" that replaces the coin tray on top of the center bezel. In the second opening I installed an analog clock. If you have a manual transmission, you don't need the temperature gauge though. And in hindsight, I should have just installed the tranny temp gauge on the floor console in front of the t-case shifter handle and not installed the clock. I missed not having that flat spot on top of the center bezel (the coin tray area) to sit my wide-base coffee mug on while driving and I didn't need to have the tranny temp gauge in such a prominent location. It would have been fine down below in front of the t-case shifter where others I know installed theirs.

Brand-wise, Autogauge & SW are very good, B&M also makes a good tranny temp gauge kit.

I guess you could count my wife as an extra gauge. She tell tells me when I'm going to fast, and when and where to turn. Kinda like built in GPS but much better looking

I believe that Autometer makes a gauge pod to fit 2 gauges onto the driver side A-Pillar. Ithink you can get it from Quadratec. TAG 17501 - TAG Pillar Gauge Pod for 03-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

I added an after market tach on my CJ. it was more accurate and it fit perfect on my full roll cage bar right by the steering wheel. running 38's and not the right gears I never went into 4th and needed to make sure I didnt go in the red in 3rd

Hah that is great. I have that same "extra gauge" issue that tells me where to go even when I don't want it to.
