I took the support bars out last summer and left them out for a month, the windshield didnt budge at all even at highway speeds

A bolt on my doorless mirrors was stripped. My grandpa had just the tool for it, a traverse threaded bit for a power drill. Worked perfectly.

Yeah as long as you leave the lower hinge bolts in the windshield it's sturdy as all get out... Sport bars are kind of a pain to remove and put back on that's why I only do it a couple times a year. But yup I'm right there with ya fellas I'm 6'1 and they do get in the way alot.

If you have a 03 or newer model that has the plastic trim around the windshield you can cut the plastic in a way so you dont have to remove it but you wont be able to see a difference when the windshield is up.

Is there a special way/tool to take off the support bars?

Attachment 169867

Btw you can fit full doors easily in the back if you remove the back seat

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Wait don't the sport bars just use torx head bolts like every other bolt on the jeep? I haven't looked but I had just assumed..

The hell? Guess that tool is going on my wish list if I can find it, unless there's a trick to getting them off or something.

Yep i had to pay out of pocket for a new set of CA's and a front TB. After almost a month, no thanks to the body shop, i got it back on the road friday. After staying up till 3am friday installing the CA's so i could get it aligned asap. And no frame damage as far as I know, they never did put it on the table

So that's what it takes to cure DW, who would have thought I had DW a while ago, she still shakes some on the big bumps but not DW just a little shimmy.

I'm still searching for a ZJ tie rod, and I'll put that on at the same time I put on my BB. But I'll try to pick up those parts after the tie rod/BB.

Jus looked, can't see what you're talking about, I just peeled back the padding, and found a torx that fit. I guess yours doesn't look like this then?

the ones with pins are called "tamper proof" torx. You can get the sockets at sears.
