Does your TJ still have its original radiator?

There has been a lot of conversation in this Forum regarding a need to install a different Radiator.
I run with a group of about 35 all wranglers out of the hot Phoenix area. Some of them have 150000 plus miles with no need to change the Radiator. Just change your coolant every five (5) years and keep the fins washed out with a garden hose.
My TJ has about 50000 miles with no Radiator issues. I don't think that the OEM Radiators are all that bad. I have a Radiator on my $65000 Escalade that looks very similar with tanks that are not made of metal.
HOW MANY OF YOU ARE STILL RUNNING YOUR ORIGINAL RADIATOR AND HOW MANY MILES ON YOUR WRANGLER AT THIS TIME???

The early TJ's first radiators used up through about mid-1999 had big problems with leaks but for the most part, those made after that date seem to hold up fine so long as the cooling system is properly maintained. I had to replace my '97 TJ's radiator 3 times but the first two times the dealer used the original design because that was all they could get.

The biggest way to keep the radiator happy is to perform coolant swaps per the schedule and never use tap water to mix with the coolant. Using only distilled water will prevent hard water deposits from forming.

2003 103000 miles original radiator. New water pump, and as Jerry said maintain it and avoid tap water.

My tank finally split at 135,000. '04 X. I did not maintain my cooling system as I should have. Also replaced cap, pump, and stat. My bad. Can't blame the Jeep.

2000 Sport, replaced original radiator and stat at 92k with an all metal one. Replaced that one at 142k with an OE type, along with stat and water pump.

2000 TJ radiator cracked at top at 130,000 miles. Put an oem style in. For the price and as easy as it is to fix I figure its not a bad deal.

I am just somewhat surprised that you guys seem to think that over 100k miles on a radiator is not good??

67000 miles the radiator looks original. In all my vehicles I have always used a 50% antifreeze 50% distilled water mixture.
I now purchase the pre-mix 50/50 from Havoline.
I never use a pressure washer on my radiator, but rather just a garden hose so I don't damage the fins and possibly weaken the core.

Radiator exploded

My brother has a 2000 TJ with 68,000 mikes and we were taking the Jeeps out on Christmas Day. He had started his Jeep and was letting it warm up. It had been running for about 10 minutes while we were in the house when we heard a huge boom.
Here is what we found!

'99 with 70k miles. Replaced the radiator, hoses, water pump and thermostat. First I drained the fluid out of my old one, put in distilled water and some flush, ran that for a few days, flushed my heater core, replaced everything stated above, put in straight distilled water, ran it 3 hours on the highway, drained that, then put in distilled water and some antifreeze. I decided to be a stickler with all the new equipment in.

My 2003 has 184,000 miles and original radiator. Replaced the thermostat a couple of years ago, but radiator, water pump and hoses still good...
