Dome Light

The only way my dome light comes on is if I turn the stalk and do it manually.. Its a 03 and it feels like it has two positions. I have tried it both ways, but when I open door, dome light doesnt come on.. With door open I can manually turn it on. Also it will come on when you shut the engine off. Is this normal on a newer TJ.

Check to see if there is a fuse in slot #4 behind the glove box

x2

The PO might have removed it for doors off driving. I removed mine so the only way my dome light comes on is what you are describing.

Don't BET anything on that.

Mine is in the same fix ... and my fuse is in the slot and is a good fuse. I still haven't tracked down why mine is not working with the door switches .....

You guys were kinda right, the #4 fuse was out. After it was installed, the light wouldnt go out. I sit in the driver seat and tried evertype of on/off combo and never could get the lights to go out.. So I get out and go to passenger side to pull the fuse and notice the door plunger on passenger side was broke. Went to parts house and picked one up for around 7.00 and swapped them out and everything is perfect..

I would have never thought to check fuse since light came on..
One more reason to say how great this forum is...
