Dome Light Trouble

I am having issues with my 2003 Wrangler.......I took the doors off not long ago because the weather finally turned my way. i pulled the number 4 fuse so the lights would not stay on while my doors were off. about 4 days after having them off the two lights on my sound wedges came on and stayed on after the engine was running. so i went back home and put the doors back on to try and fix it and put the fuse back in and everything went to normal. that lasted for about 3 days and the lights are coming back on when the engine is running. i pulled the bulbs because i am stumped. anyone have any help

probably already been checked but are you SURE the switch on the signal stalk is off-with the delay and the turn off /save the battery feature, may not notice they are on-especially since lights under dash would be less noticeable with the doors off.

tell me more,i cant get the lights(dome/floor)to come on when i open the doors. they work when i turn the light switch to the left. is a 99 too "old" to have a delay/turn,etc?

I know 03's and up have an entry feature, where after shutting the engine off the interior lights come on for a few seconds (or at least my dads 05 does).

My 98 just has the dimmer, where the last click turns them on.

Could it be possible that your twisting the dimmer when you turn on your head lights?

OP has an '03----I have an 04. My (and I assumed) our Jeeps each have the light controls on the turn signal switch. It controls brightness of dash lights as well as interior lighting. If you leave the switch on, after about 20 min the lights shut off to keep from draining the battery from the dome lights.
There is also a delay on how long the interior lights stay on when entering and exciting the vehicle-it is tied to the opening and closing of the door. When the fuse is removed this portion is disabled-but am wondering about the switch itself if maybe it is on.

As for your lights work with switch but not doors-have you checked the fuse? If it was "pulled" so the lights don't come on when doors are off and never put back---maybe that would explain it?

I did put the fuse back in after i put the doors on. And the thing that is driving me crazy is that everything worked fine for about 3 days before they started staying on while the engine is running
