Dome lights

The previous owner of my jeep disconnected the dome lights, I guess to ride with the doors off and the dome lights off. the lights under the dash still come on when the doors are open so it seems that just the top lights in the speaker pods are disconnected. Where would he have disconnected them (where should I look)? The fuse is still in and I don't think he cut the wire. I have just thought about looking to see if the bulb was removed. Where other than that?

That would be the obvious place to start. Next would be to follow the harness down from the speaker bar.

If you put bulbs in and they still don't work, check the switch on the door. I usually disconnect mine there when I run doors off.

Is the fuse still good? It's the #4 fuse behind the glove box.

Ahhh it was easier than we thought. It just needed some new bulbs. Easy fix. Hey I see that quadtec sell a spring thingy that clamps the door switch down to keep the lights off when the doors are off. Do these things work? Also they sell a switch that ties int the harness somewhere that you can switch the dome light circuit off manually. Anyone have any experience with this? Does it work?

I just pull the plug on the door switch. Don't cost as much time.

If you pull the fuse can you still use the dimmer switch on the dash to turn on the domes?

Yes. Just rotate the switch forward, and POOF the lights come on. It's actually better, cause the radio doesn't ding when you open the door. Just be careful cause it won't when your headlights are on either.

*2 for pulling fuse.

Actually I think I'm going to go back and put a switch in to give the option of having them or not. Just throw the switch and it shorts the fuse...very simple and adds another cool switch for people to question
