My ’02 TJ X was totaled after a semi hit me in the passenger side door and pushed me off the road and rolled me and tweaked my rollbars something fierce. (Had the top down too at the time, it was a gorgeous day, and I can vouch for the integrity of the Wrangler’s occupant compartment, aside from bumps and bruises, I emerged unscathed.)
Two weeks to the day afterward, I bought an ’04 TJ X, nearly identical to the ’02. But it appears the backseat in the ’04 was designed not to be removed. What gives with that?
And no tow hooks either, front and rear. And no lighter, or ashtray, but extra plugs, wtf?
Lighter and ashtrays are now mostly optional items in vehicles. 02 was the last is tj's that had it. They changed the center dash slightly for the 03and up model. Tow hooks...optional equipment. Always has been.
And yes your rear seat comes out. Why do you think it does not? Should have the release at the top of the back/center seat.
You shouldn't have any trouble removing the rear seat unless the release on it is broken or something. The X is your base model Wrangler so unless the original owner added things or got a special dealer package, you won't have things like tow hooks, etc.
Bite the hand that feeds you . . . you've had more than enough to eat already.
in my '02 the back seack can right out with a clip, there were even instructions in the owners' manual, this lokks like it's not intended to be removable, totally diffierent set up, and no instructions in the manual for removing rear seat.
I did get a lighter though, and the guy at the Jeep dealer gave me an ashtry pilfered from a buick.
Yeah, my 05' came with the smokers package that had a removable ashtray that fit into my cup holder slots and a pop out lighter. I still have it somewhere. Never used either part, but I do have two power slots now.
