Door handles hard to open?

Is there a way to make the doors easier to open? I really have to pull on the handles hard to get them to open, is this normal? If not, what can I do to make them easier to open?

I just did this job last night! I just removed my interior door panels. 3-4 torx screws around the edge of the panel and the two longer ones that hold the pull straps. You still have to gently tug at the panel, because there's 4-5 plastic push pins back there(PIA). Gently peel back the cellophane liner. YOU DON'T need to loosen the interior door knob. Then douse anything that moves with some spray lube. I used some garage door lube because that's what I had around. !!!Be careful not to get lube on anything that touches glass!!! You can also lube the female half of the latch. Not too much though, any residue that gets transferred to the male half of the latch will wind up on you pants getting in and out.

While you have the panel off, and the interior door knob exposed, you can tape it off and paint it. Mine were all chalky white.

Then work in all the lube til it works nice and easy. Then put it all back together. They will work like new!

EDIT: You need to remove the window crank. Stick a standard screwdriver between the crank and the rubber bushing. Twist a little so you can see in there, and gently push the metal clip in there down until it falls out.(looks almost like a chrome paper clip).
