How come I can't find ANY sockets or wrenches that fit the door nuts for a 99 TJ? Help???

Pretty sure it's a 1/2" if not that then it's 10 or 11mm, somewhere around there... I took mine off again a few weeks ago, but don't recall the socket size for certain.

Mine was a 1/2" I could not fit a socket onto it. I had to use a 1/2" wrench and continuously flip it over because there was not enough swing to go from one slot to the next. which is why I leave my nuts off.

I use a long extension and you can get an angle on it to get them loose, at least I can on mine....

You probably need a deep well socket, it is just at the depth of needing one so the 1/2 looks like it won't fit.

I couldn't find one that fit mine well either. Seemed the paint was to thick or maybe it was just to mucked up from the PO.
Vice Grips took them off no problem. Tossed them...somewhere...never bothered putting them back on. Good luck

It's because of the thickness of the paint that it will not fit. Just use an adjustable wrench.

maybe your jeep has been re-painted and somehow paint got inside the nut rivets and is acting like glue? sounds lame but maybe possible? idk, I just used an adjustable wrench on mine and it was a piece of cake. Mine's a 2003 and I bought it back in August. Pretty sure I was the first person to take the doors off and it was no problem. Also, I didnt have any problems taking the milk jugs off like others have had.

I use a 13MM on my 2003. At first the paint makes it a little tight

One size fits most
I used this to take mine off. fortunately they weren't rusted in place!
Now they ride around in a pill bottle, in the glovebox.
