Any Trick to removing the Sahara Hard Doors for the first time ? I tried over the weekend, the nut was easy to remove the pin (bolt) would not budge. Any suggestions ?

thanks

For the first time you remove, I would put painter's tape around the pins and hinges, so that when it does release, you won't gouge your finish if you lose control while pulling up. Soaking overnight with WD40 or white lithium grease in a spray can will help.

Ok, I gotta say it. This is my first jeep and had someone said these magic words to me while I was looking for how to take the doors off it would have made it a while hell of a lot easier.

The hinge pins are fixed. They're attached to the door side of the hinge. This might not be your problem, but I know it was mine. Tex is right, just work the door back and forth while you lift it upward. They'll slide right out and if not, WD40 them.

some sort of lube, patience, and moving the door back and forth. remove the door strap from the hook so you can swing your door all the way forward towards your front fender. swinging it out wide like that eventually did the trick for me. putting some sort of tape around the area will help avoid any little scratches too, or just be extra careful when you finally pull them completely out. you are prone to scratching too when you put them back on.

A 16# sledge will do the trick, too. But that doesn't mean we recommend it.

How do you get those nuts off without making a mess out of them?

It's a nut -- and a Jeep. They are suppose to be scruffed up.
