Door Trade....Ya or nay?

Ok so I found a guy locally who wants my 2002 TJ Full doors (Sienna Pearl paint, seen below)

and I've always wanted the half doors that he has on his 2006 TJ (silver paint)(similar to the ones pictured below, but different color.)
I told him id gladly trade him straight up if he covered the cost of getting them professionally painted. and he agreed, but his painter wont be able to match my worn and sun faded sienna, so Im gonna have him paint the half doors in a flat black and probably do the same to the entire jeep in a few months.

Do you guys think this is a fair trade? and would you make this trade if you were me?
also, is there any different fitment issues around the window or the locking mechanism?

Pretty sure everything goes straight across. As far as fair trade...if you are happy, and he is happy, I would think so...

Depends on how bad you want them... I would see how much it would cost for the entire flat black paint job and see if he will meet you in the middle. If it's $500 see if he will cover 250 or some portion there of...

Don't forget...you are going to have to take the door panels off ALL the doors and swap the lock cylinders around...or the first time you lock the doors will be the 'slap forehead' time to remember the keys won't work!

Obviously my full doors are worth more than his half doors correct?

is there any benefits either way of the deal? or just the looks? and the fact that when i rest my arm on the window ledge it will be slightly lower lol

Unless you feel safe getting copies of keys...just another option

Yes yours are worth more but half doors aren't cheap. The full doors are very heavy and a lot of people don't like to mess with them because of that.

Yes they are worth more usually. You are the one that will determine the benefits...with half doors you have more variety, and the look (if thats what you are going for). Full doors will dampen road noise a little more though. Its kind of up to you on what YOU want for a door.

I will let you know that the zippered windows will crap out eventually. I went with sliders and couldnt be happier. The sliders cut down road noise some, and work much better. The only downside is that the window is much smaller now.

I traded my full doors for half doors, same color as my LJ AND the guy gave me $1000, I wasnt sure if I wanted to do it but when he threw the grand at me it was a no brainer!!! I had been looking for half doors and at the beach I really dont need full doors. Easier to take off and on and easier to store.

I have been thinking about doing this if I get the TJ I am looking at... if he offers to cover the amount to paint them matching colors I would be all over it... then again I don't have to deal with the cold in AZ so no need for full doors really...
