Door woes..

So a couple months back I got some full doors. I quickly realized that I had sort of an issue. That issue being that I can't exactly use my key to unlock those doors. This isn't really a huge deal now but I'm going to college in the fall and naturally I want to be able to lock and unlock my doors. What on earth am I supposed to do?

Any locksmith can rekey the cylinder to match your key

Or if you still have the old half doors take the passenger lock cylinder out and put it in the driver full door, that way you can at least lock it

Thanks guys sorry for the late reply but since I still have the half doors I'll use the cylinder out of those. I was definitely hoping I could do that.

IDK but it looks like you run a soft top. Why bother locking your doors? It will only stop honest folks. Any misfit will just slash or unzip a rear/side window to get into the Jeep.

I don't lock my doors, ever. OTOH, I don't leave anything I'm not willing to give away inside. When I leave it in a questionable area--say away on vacation in a parking lot for a week--I put notes on the windows (front, sides and rear) that state: "Heep is unlocked/No valuables inside". I don't care if they look, just don't want it slashed & trashed while they look for treasure that isn't there!

If you lock it, good luck with it. Hope you don't get vandalized. YMMV, and invariably will...

Yeah...with a hard top, locking the doors is no problem. With a soft top, no way. It's cheaper to replace your radio than it is to replace your top. Keep that in mind.

Agreed, That's the first thing I thought.
I bolted an ammo can to the floor next to my parking brake for those times when I absolutely have to leave something in the Jeep. It's in there really snug and if they go through the trouble of getting it out, hell they can have whatever's in it.

This.

I have owned five softtop TJs (and one Miata) and I have never locked the doors on any of them. Ever. I've never had anything stolen out of any of them, either.
