As far as the mirror quesiton . . . pick yourself up a set of Harley Mirrors and put them in the top hinge after removing the door and bingo you are all set to go.
awwe and i thought i was so inventive it's cool i did think of it myself

@97 Wrangler-what you want are Harley-Davidson O.E.M. long-stem mirrors!Put them in the top door hinge hole when topless, with a nut on the bottom to tighten them up.I bought mine from ebay for 15 dollars!

You've just got to be a little more aware, I imagine like a biker would.
I always check out an intersection as I'm approaching it.

But in the end....when it's your time, it's your time

I got my harley mirrors off ebay for $15 cuz I was in a hurry and did the "buy it now" price.

There's LOTS of harley mirror options that are even cheaper.

As far as safety is concerned....be bucked-up regardless of if the door is there or not. I've been on the job a long time, and I've never unbuckled a dead body....but I've scraped up a lot of ejectees. And in a T-bone.....that itty-bitty door aint gonna make a lick of difference against an oncoming car. Mass times velocity (squared) = energy.

Take it off.

Take it ALL off.

Hmmm... that kinda made me sound like the wrong kind of "pirate".

Ok....so maybe not take it ALL off.

Just get comfortable.

Yeah....there....thats better.

to this day, when ever weather permits i take my top and doors off if it is supposed to be nice for at least 2 days.
On that note...living out in the country, I drive doorless all the time and I always wonder...how much would it hurt to encounter one of those deer that runs into the SIDE of your vehicle rather than in front of it? lol

I work on a deer farm...so I've seen just how fast and hard they can run into something (like a closed gate) when they're panicking. Not really something I ever want to find out while doorless in my Jeep...

You know how a chicken farm raises chickens...a dairy farm raises cows (and collects milk)...on a deer farm we raise deer. lol

We breed em and then sell em to captive game preserves and other deer farmers...we don't hunt em on our land. My boss keeps em cuz they're enjoyable to watch roaming the woods around the house but he sells off the good bucks every year to help cover the feed costs.

I have dozens of times in the last 12 years....but I also work for the coroner's office...don't let the door factor intimidate you. What happens, happens. If we worried about this stuff all the time, we would never leave the house...

Heck, statistically speaking, "home" is where things are MOST dangerous.

Take calculated risks.

Dont be afraid, but also avoid being fearless.

Oh, and HATS OFF to the coroners crew!!!! (big time)

I've dealt with some nasty (stuff) but always cuz I was just trying to be helpful. I always had the luxury of saying "I aint gonna touch THAT." and my chain of command woulda backed me up. You guys GOTTA handle the worst of the worst and you get no "opt out". so you deserve simultanious prop....and condolences.

Cuz there some stuff that even a hefty bag (disaster pouch) cant cover.
