DPG Ultimate OME or BDS lift pieced together?

I am ready to remove the saggy ~2" Pro Comp lift the PO installed and have narrowed it down to 2 kits; the DPG Ultimate kit with Brown Dog MML upgrade or going with 3" BDS springs/shocks and piecing the rest together on my own. I'm trying to spend less than $1500 on the lift components and will install myself.

Either way would come out to almost the same price and include:
-Front and rear springs and shocks
-Front and rear JKS adj track bars
-JKS 1.25 BL
-Brown Dog 1" MML
-Bump Stop Extensions
-JKS Quicker Discos
If I go with the BDS, I thought about not doing the BL/MML and maybe subbing in the Currie front and rear track bars instead of the JKS.

I never really wanted to put a BL on my LJ but I do know that it would give me more options down the road with belly up, gas tank skids, room for larger tires, etc. My thought process is that if I do the BDS kit the way I want, I can always add the BL/MML later but still run the 33's I will be upgrading to in the meantime. I don't think the OME springs alone will give me enough lift to run 33's so I'd have to do the BL.

I know the 3" BDS kit will allow room for 33's since I have run 33's on the BDS 2" kit in the past (properly bump-stopped). The BDS 2" kit nets over 3" so I bet the 3" kit will be closer to 4". On the BDS 2" kits I ran, I did have to install a 3/4" spacer in the front both times to level since there was a rake. So my thought this time was to do the 2" BDS springs in the rear and the 3" up front; I'd probably get 3" all around with that setup.

Most people rave about the OME kit and I am intrigued, but I do like BDS from personal experience and it would allow me to do this in stages while still driving it (Front then rear, then BL/MML if I want). It would be easier financially rather than trying to come up with the $1500 at once for the DPG. The BDS warranty is nice but that would not be a deciding factor in this.

I'd like to hear opinions on either route. Thanks!

I followed many of your threads and really like the way your Jeep turned out. It looks like it performs great offroad. Did either have advantages over the other in your opinion?

I figure I can't go wrong either way. I am kind of leaning BDS because I can gain enough height for 33's with just springs and eventually go bigger in the future with a BL. Plus I can do it in stages which makes it more feasible.

Why not buy the 3" Zone Offroad kit. Zone is the sister company of BDS. The price of the Zone kit is much better than the BDS kit and the quality is the same. Add a Metalcloak front track bar and you have a good entry level lift.

If you want a bl as well you could get the Zone 4.25" kit that includes the 3" spring lift, 1.25" body lift, and a 1" motor mount lift.

Yeah I have been kicking that around as well, the deal on a 3" is pretty decent and supposedly they are the same components as BDS. I could get everything I want with the 3" kit for under a grand (including JKS front track bar and discos). I need to learn more about if Zone really is the same as BDS or not. But people seem to like the Zone lifts out there from what I have read.

Because you have the heavier LJ, I would research your spring/coil rate options to mitigate future sagging. I do know that OME offers coils specifically dialed for the LJ. This is where OME has an advantage over BDS - coil variety.

Here is specific information to help you make an ideal selection based on your Jeep's weight requirements:

Official spring rates and sizes OME, BDS and others - JeepForum.com

I also experienced that the OME shocks fared better on high speed, desert type running vs. BDS, but I don't wheel like that often. I like BDS due to cost and value compared to OME. But if you need options - OME is ideal.

In blind everyday general wheeling scenarios, you really can't go wrong with either ;).
Thank you for the info! I am still torn between the 2 and I should probably stop over thinking it. I do lean towards BDS just because I know how the kit rides and it would give me more lift with just the springs. I guess I really can't lose though.

Don't over think doing the body lift, just go ahead and do it. I have OME spring and shocks, they're great. BDS makes good stuff, and I will be running one of their kits on my F150 but other options are better for Jeeps.

Yeah I think the BL will be beneficial to me in many ways, especially when it comes time to tummy tuck. But also, I think it gives me more room in the rear for the track bar bracket, or just clearance in general. I never liked the looks of them in the past, but once I get a new rear bumper/tire carrier and paint under the wheel wells, the gap will not be as noticeable to me.

With 3" of lift a Metalcloak track bar is a better choice than jks. I own both and from both a clearance and strength perspective there is no comparison. The price for either is about the same.

If you like the idea of the bl. You really should look at the 4.25" zone kit.

Yeah I like the looks of that Metalcloak FTB, and the price is right. I was just concerned since people said it was about as short as it can go around 3" so some people were not able to perfectly center the axle if they did not achieve the full 3" with their lift; it seemed better suited for 4" plus lifts. This is more of a concern if I went with the OME 2.5 though, I would expect to gain the full 3 if not more with the BDS. I really like what I hear about Currie track bars and was considering them as well but they are more expensive.

That zone lift is appealing cost wise, but I just might shell out a little extra for the BDS since I know how they perform and their customer service has been great in the past with any questions I had.
