Smile Driving with soft top and no door surrounds

Would it hurt if I needed to drive with the soft top up and no door surrounds to fasten it too? I'm asking because once I get my seat covers, I will have the top down and all the windows, upper doors, and door surrounds at home. If it would start to rain while at work, I could put the top up but would not have the door surrounds to hook the top too. I'd prefer not to carry the door surrounds in the back if I don't need too. I'm sure it would flap more and be noisier, I just don't want it to tear.

Thanks

John

I've wondered that myself, but I'm afraid to try it since my commute is mostly highway and I don't want to ruin my top.

Try it and let me know how it worked out will ya?

I have my soft top up all the time without the door surrounds and it doesn't hurt a thing. I think it makes a little bit more noise but other than that I haven’t had any problems.

Well there ya go. Bye bye door surrounds until fall.

It will make it about 6 seconds faster to put up the top now too.

Yeah, it will flap a bit more, but won't cause damage.

Obviously, you won't get a good seal, and the water that collects on the top will need to go somewhere. And that'll be down your left shoulder. But you've got to expect that.

Thank you. I was hoping that was the answer.
