Dumb sunrider top

So I have a 2005 unlimited and it has the sunrider top option where the front can fold up like a sun roof. Because it has this option, it has little pins that snap into place on each side on top of the door surrounds. Well one broke when I was taking my top off like a month ago and I ended up having to saw it off. So I went to the dealership to see if I could just get a new pin thing assembly and the parts guy that knew nothing about jeeps had to call to the east coast to find out what to do(I live in Cali). He called me back and said that I have to buy a whole new door surround for $220. I know that this can't be true because its only held on by two little srews that I took off, so why would I need to buy a whole new door surround? Soes anybody know where to get one of these? I csan post a picture later, but I have to find my camera first. Thanks

My pins wouldn't hold, and the dealer had to buy that whole package you're describing to fix it I believe. I know I ended up with completely new hardware up in front.. You might wanna try a junkyard or something?

are you talking about the spring loaded pin that the frame locks into? If so which piece broke, the pin or the flange? You should be able to buy assembly for little $. Call Bestop customer service.

We've got all sorts of little parts and pieces. I'm working right now (well, not right now. Right now I'm taking a break) on an online store to sell all these things. But for now, give 'em a call.

The pin broke off and had to cut the rest off, so the whole thing is messed up. The stock tops are bestop? They would be able to help?

You can get just the pin assembly, I also have an 05 unlimited, and just ordered one for mine after I broke it. They are mighty proud of it at $75.00, and beware that there are two different versions. Turned out that mine had the type that the 04s have. They also redesigned it with a c- clip on the end of it now, so the new ones should not break like the old ones. The parts guy at the dealership I went to had no trouble finding it, so try a different dealership.

Ok, Thanks. So how do you know which one to get if there are two different kinds?

Well, with mine, he ordered the wrong one, then ordered the right one. They only list one part number for 2005, but it was not the right one, so mine must be a very early 05, because the 04 one worked. They are VERY different, and will not interchange.

Well, that's two bad pieces of advice I gave today. I may just stop, and only do obnoxious photoshop's of Tiny.

My apologies. I saw "Sunrider" but I missed where it was OEM.

We make the factory soft tops, but they sell them, so they get to provide the parts and service.

I'll read more carefully next time.

Ok then, I will have to either go back there and talk to them some more or go to a different dealership. It's just that this one is so close...

Thanks doug. Went to the dealership and talked to them for a while and he had to call a few places, but it looks like the 2004 version is the one I've got too. Thanks
