Duraflex Hood?

came across this while looking at hood louvers.

1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler Duraflex Heat Reduction Hood - 1 Piece :

It looks like the AEV heat reduction hood only its fiberglass on plastic.

The hood looks awesome, but I'm worried about the whole fiberglass and plastic part. Has anyone out there used one? Any thoughts on how this would hold up to things like trail riding or squirrel assault under giant nut trees?

I have no advice about the hood you posted. But just to give you another idea. Here's my "heat reduction hood". Poison Spyder hood lover. $150, powder coated free shipping.

Did you order directly from Poison Spyder to get the free shipping? I'm just interested in ordering one. Thanks.

Northridge 4x4. It's my new favorite online jeep store.

I really do like the poison spyder sponge ruiner, its been a secondary priority on my list for a while now. I was just lining up different directions for my build and was curious if anyone had any experience with that particular hood or fiberglass hoods in general. I can imagine after all is said and done and I've added all the other accessories to the front the weight loss could be useful and as far as style goes that is a really nice looking hood. Im just not sure how it would hold up on a jeep.

so if anyone has run with a fiberglass hood on a moderate duty trail rig, let me know what you think.

Gotta love auto-correct, Lol!

I also have the PSC louver. It's simple and I'm happy with it.
But, I really like the style of that fiberglass hood.

He might be referring to when he washes it, because the louvers will destroy a sponge. LOL

I would say that is the AEV hood, which to me, indicates its a quality product. Duraflex has been around a long time. It's not really "Plastic on fiberglass" It's fiberglass with unique epoxy, making it more flexible than regular fiberglass. I think it looks good and I'd almost pay $500 for it (but I'm too cheap and living in Seattle, heat is not a problem). Here's a pic of a silver TJ with the AEV hood:

I was also looking at the Duraflex hood but then I noticed this disclaimer on their site which COMPLETELY kills the deal for me as my vehicle also serves as a daily driver.

"All parts are for off-road and show use only."

meh, that doesn't really mean anything. You would still be able to DD with it. Its just a classification.

I looked at that hood when I was looking for Hood lovers. I decided to go with the Hyline Louvered.
Real happy.

They make complete fiberglass cjs and they do fine on and off road. On guy in my club gas a fiberglass cj and it is only a problem on the fenders if he rubs a rock or tree. On the hood you would be fine.
