Eglin AFB Trip Prep

Hey guys, I'm from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and have been looking around for a new place to go offroad and the trails at Eglin have peaked my interest. So for those of you that have been out there I've got a few questions:

1) Trail difficulty: Are there lots of deep ruts and deep mud holes? How deep are the water crossings? Would airing down be necessary?

2) I have a friend that has an early 90's 2wd Pathfinder. Do you think he could handle the trails as well without too much difficulty? He's taken it through some mud over here and did just fine because he's good about staying on it, just wondering what y'all think about him trying it out over there. I'd be there to pull him out of anything he got stuck in.

3) What are the campsites like (crowded? usually empty?) and how close are they to the good trails?

4) Have any suggestions for good trails? I know there's tons of them out there.

5) Any suggestions for extra gear I'd need? (Should we bring extra gas? Tools? etc.)

Thanks for any help!

You're first going to need an anti-gator system, that's all I know. The rest you can find in this forum's Florida wheeling forum page at Florida Jeep Forum - Jeep Wrangler Forum

Haha that's a good one
And I've already posted over there and googled alot but couldn't really find alot of my answers; mainly to the trail difficulty one. So I figured I'd post here, sorry I know it technically isn't in the right part of the forum. But figured I'd give it a shot.

I live/work here. Fairly new Jeep owner but I've been out several times.

1. Honestly you'll have a hard time getting stuck. However, with all the rain recently there will be some nice mudding spots. As far as crossings, most are barricaded. You're not allowed to cross water.
2. If he's skilled he'll probably handle most of it depending on where you go. You might need to pull him out of the sand if he slows down too much but I 2WD a lot of the roads.
3. IDK
4. Download/bring the range map. You can get one at the Jackson Guard station. You'll have to go there to get a range pass anyways. The map is also on Avenza if you have the app for smart phones. Personally I've explored and enjoyed the area W of Hwy 87. There's a nice swim hole at the end of 767 in F1. Also some jeep playgrounds in Weaver Creek and G5.
5. Your standard gear should be fine. I'd have a tow strap just in case but the gas is unnecessary.
Also, before you go out have a plan. Check the Jackson Guard Daily Access Website here:
Jackson Guard Daily Access Map
It'll show you what areas are closed for the day. Usually that's due to testing or upcoming missions.
Shoot me a msg if you need more info.
