Electronic problems

I replaced the ignition switch in my '01 wrangler. When I plug the power into it all the dash lights come on and I have full power. Problem is I cant get the key to do anything. Will not turn over or turn the power off. Any ideas?
This was not the reason I replaced the switch. Now it is the problem with the new switch as well as the old. Could I have put the jeep into theft mode possibly?

There is a part between the ignition switch & the key cylinder that is known to have the tip that goes into the switch slot crack or break. That part is called the actuator pin. The dealer can’t supply that part & will tell you that you need a new steering column for #700 or so. You can get them at a parts store or online for less than $50. If you can turn the slot in the switch with a screwdriver & get everything to work & start then you need the pin. Here is a link that addresses it & in post #2 there are 2 more links showing the broken part & a video on replacing it. Note that you will need a t-10 security Torx bit to remove it so if your pin is bad get the bit when you get the pin(mentioned in the video).
