Engine tries to turn over but wont

Ok so I drove my 2000 TJ 4.0L 5spd to work this morning and she ran fine and showed no signs of trouble, however when lunch rolled around and I went to get lunch, she doesnt want to start. The battery is good, the gauge reads 13v and i even tried to jump her. She tries to turn over but wont get running. I even tried popping the clutch down a hilll and that didnt work. I know I'm probably overthinking this but some outside ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Battery cable....or ground attach point is my most likely thought.....2nd would be a dead cell in the battery (can you put a load test on it where you are??)

You say it won't turn over. So, the engine is locked up? It won't physically turn?

A battery can be dead enough that it will show voltage but the voltage will go to zero (or close to it) when you try to start the engine. That you couldn't even jump start it makes for an even stronger case for a dead/bad battery. A dead battery can suck so much juice out of a good battery that the good battery doesn't have enough remaining power to start the engine.

And with a dead battery, it will not start from doing a roll-start & popping the clutch. The battery powers the alternator so if the battery is dead, the alternator won't provide any power so the ignition will be dead which will prevent the engine from starting during a rolling start.

I'm along your line of thinking, could possibly be hydrolocked. (Injector(s) have flooded the cylinder) otherwise could be a failed fuel pump, or a myriad of other possibilities.

The alternator keeps a fully charged battery fully charged. Check the battery cables . Pull them off and check the bottom of them also. Check all connections. If all looks fine you either have a battery with bad cell or alternator is bad. Get it to a shop if you don't have the knowledge and or tools to check everything. electrical problems can be hard to track down.

The engine isn't seized cause it still turns over, it just won't start. And the battery is only 4 months old and I haven't had any problems starting her at all. It just seems she died out of nowhere. I just don't understand how she died in a matter of hours. I'll take her to the shop this weekend and try some of yalls ideas, thanks for all the help!

Actually the battery doesn't need to drop to near zero volts under load to be bad....Any battery that drops below 9.5 volts under a load test can be considered weak/bad

A quick and easy test to see if its a fuel delivery problem is to remove the air cleaner and pour a small amount of gas into the intake, if the engine try's to start, your not getting fuel. If it does nothing still, pull one of the spark plug wires off, insert a screwdriver in the plug wire and allow the bare shaft of the screwdriver to lay about 1/4 to 1/2" off the engine metal. Have someone turn over the engine and watch for it to spark, if no spark, then your problem is electrical.
