exaust help

This is my 03' rubicon. Since I have bought it all I have really done to it is put 33's the chrome step ups and some work to the inside(sound system, etc.) Now that I am out of college and actually have a paycheck that I can spend, I am wanting to make it sound a little better but really know nothing about exaust systems or anything. I picked up a friend where he had dropped of his car to do admissions and I noticed it was also a custom exaust place. I talked to a guy that worked there and they said they could put a magnaflow 40 series muffler in for 170 without tax. Is that all I need and is that a good price? Any help is appreciated and now that i found these forums Ill prob be on here quite a bit.

Thank you

That'll work if you want loud. As far as performance it will be negligible. A six cylinder will never have the great sound of a v8 so know what to expect. If you look under the jeep and see where the muffler is you'll see how close the louder muffler will be to your interior. If you want loud you'll probably get it. I use mine in the country and enjoy seeing, not scaring the game here.

is that just a muffler only swap or also new piping from the muffler all the way out the back? Ive heard alot of people like the 40 series flowmaster. Most of the good catback kits with atleast 2.5in piping cost around $260+ and that is with self install. I personally wouldnt bother doing the muffler swap if i wasent also taking the time to also swap from the 2 & 1/4 to 2.5 or 3.0inch pipe. I personally self installed my banks monster cat back and love it.

I have the Gale Banks Cat-Back in my Jeep and I love the sound. It sounds great; there is a deeper and throatier roar at full throttle and I love how it burbles when I let off the gas and idle. You can't go wrong with it.

I got a magnaflow on mine and it sounds amazing it's nice and loud when you floor it but when u are coasting it's not loud at all and I paid $150 for mine so that's a great price don't go with a flowmaster tho they sound good until you hit 2000-2500 rpm range and they get a really annoying squeal on them
