Excess Engine Oil and Leaks?

hi there guys and gals,
Noob here.
So can excess engine oil cause leaks near TCase or Transmission?
I have a 1999 TJ 4.0L 5 speed manual with 122K miles, jeep wasn't leaking anything until a couple weeks ago and it kinda coincides with a oil change that I did. Now I see oil on the tcase skid plate and a few drops on the floor as well. I read somewhere here that excess oil can blow seals (coz of higher presssure) and potentially cause it to leak. If this is the case what are my next steps?

I will remove the skid plate and wipe it up and see if i can trace this leak. But in the meantime should I drain some oil out of the engine. It's kinda confusing to tell from the dipstick. I will run the engine for a few minutes this evening and check the level tonight.

Any other suggestions or ideas or advice greatly welcome. Thanks.
