Excited newbie needs help removing rear window

I got my Jeep last night. Getting plates for it today. It is a beautiful day here in New England, and I cannot wait to get the top down.

I removed the rear windows and have stowed those safely. I am on the rear window now. I pulled the rear window retainer from the tailgate clips as instructed and I have unzipped the window with both zipper keys all the way over to the left...kinda.

The bottom teeth on the zipper protrudes the bottom zipper key by about a half inch. Is this normal? I have the rear window pretty much unzipped, but can't seem to get it detached at the bottom left. I don't want to pull it too hard and mess up the zipper. Any thoughts?

Please help me get out on the road with the top down! I can't wait to start waving!

You're going to have to mess with it to get the zipper out all the way. Someone might have zipped it together with the ends uneven. If you're finding that it's too taught to work with, try removing the sail panel from the slot at the bottom to loosen it up a bit. It should come out eventually. When you zip it back in next time, try to make sure the metal end is aligned better to avoid this problem.

Is the part that is sticking out acually the teeth of the zipper or the solid base? Is the protruding part on the window itself or on the top? If it is on the top and there are no teeth exposed, it means that the person who actually zipped it on last did not completely seat the zipper before starting to zip it. You should be able to gently pull down on both of the zipper pulls to get it to come loose without damaging it. I'm not sure how your instructions read, but I never release the rear bar until the window is completely released from the zipper.

Glad you got it! In the future try removing the rear window first, after undoing the header, then the side windows and then the sail panels and voila!
