I am possibly buying an 06 Jeep wrangler X 6 cylinder. My first Jeep! I was wondering what I could do to make it sound louder. I was told it would only sound like a tractor if I did anything since its only a 6 cylinder. Any advice? thanks!
Just go to your local muffler shop & tell them what you want and you'll get a very good product for way less $$$. Banks, Flowmaster, etc. are all way overpriced compared to what any small independent (not Midas, etc.) muffler shop can do. I had to have my exhaust rerouted and a new smaller muffler installed after installing an RE long arm suspension and mine did the entire job for something like $85 which included a Thrush muffler. The Thrush was slightly louder than stock and produced a pretty good sound, probably what the OP is looking for. Actually, the first Thrush muffler they installed was a little too loud but the second slightly bigger Thrush muffler was just right.

I currently have a MSRB exhaust and it sounds great! I think i might just want to do a straight-pipe though

take that advice i went to my local custom muffler shop they put in a flowmaster 40 and rerouted the tailpipe to end before the axle. sounds pretty good and they did the whole thing for 180 bucks..less than a cat back system.
X2 on what Jerry said about Thrush. I have one as part of a Dynaflow cat back system. Slightly louder than stock, good sound overall, but not loud enough to piss anyone off, or give you a headache on the road.
