i am looking to redo my entire exhaust from the headers back. i have searched around on quadratec and found a few kits. but i am not 100% sure of everything i will need, or what brands i should look for/ stay away from. if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

I have the gibson cat back system on my yj also with a 2.5 and i lovd it definately helped out alot with getting exhaust out since its 3" pipe have not had a problem at all with it had it for 4 years has a loud deep throughty sound to it only downside was it was like $450 bucks but all stainless steel and it can tame a beating too definately recomend it

alright thanks man, i was looking at a cat back system on quadratic, but was unsure of which brands are better than others. i do want something for a better fuel economy because i drive about 2 hours (one way) two or three times a week. i am currently in college, so i dont have a good income at the moment, but i am looking at spending around 800 for a full replacement on my exhaust.

My advice...spending $800 on exhaust we be a "no return on investment" for fuel savings or power gain. If you want a cooler sound and possible slightly lower engine running temps, have a Flowmaster, Thrush, Banks, Dynomax or MagnaFlow muffler installed.

If I were driving that many miles a week, I would use the $800 as a down payment on a super econobox. You will be spending $80 to $100 a week for gas in your Wrangler no matter what. A new super high efficiency exhaust system is not going to save you it's up front cost for a long time, if ever.

currently i have an exhaust leak, a bad o2 sensor and a slight tranny leak. i plan on fixing the tranny within the next few months (i just add fluid every few weeks and its fine) but with my headers rusting, bad clamps, and a bad sensor i figured while im messing with the stuff may as well redo the entire thing.

The oem exhaust manifolds go for about $50-$75 on ebay. That's what I would do, or visit a local junk yard.

id prefer new parts, rather not be replacing it again in the near future. however is this any real difference between brands when it comes to them?

If you are going to replace from the headers back, then you should look into Walker exhaust components for the piping you'll need. It seems to run MUCH cheaper than other brands...

I would stick with made in the USA for a bunch of reasons, not just patriotism. Keep doing your research and maybe repost the two you finally settle on and get input from folks that have actually installed the systems and are using them. Highest price does not necessarily equal highest quality.

Good Luck!

Check your header for cracks. If cracked then money spent on a new one is justified. I have a Banks cat back and I really like the tone of it and at highway speeds it mellows out so as not to get that dreaded drone. But my Jp has a I6 in it not a 4 banger.
