Exhaust pipe gasket ??

Has anyone had an issue with exhaust leaks from around the manifold end where the head pipe attaches..?? I just had my exhaust manifold replaced (twice due to bad parts) and I still am hearing the tell tale sputtering of a leak, which I think is coming from where the head pipe attaches to the manifold. 1997 TJ dont seem to use a gasket there..but 1995 did..as my TJ is a early model year there are a few parts on it that are listed for the 1995 model (the TPS for example)...do ya think mine might need a gasket put in there..??? I need some opinions before I show my butt at TiresPlus, who did the manifold work..not planning on paying another dime for something they should have done right the first time..
Thanks in advance

Mine has two bolts and a flange that has repeatedly worked it's way loose. PITA.

Commonly referred to as a "donut" gasket. The gasket should be be smooth without any deformation. The flange on the exhaust pipe itself may be bent or deformed.

Have them do it right. That little sputtering can turn into a tea kettle whistle after a while. My 2004 the rear manifold to head pipe connection was missing 2 nuts and the flange was hanging loose. Got her tightened up and no more tea kettle or sputter for a couple of weeks. They are creeping back now. Time to re-tighten.
