Exhaust Project

I have an 06 TJ and am looking for a good exhaust set up to go with its ever present stance. Something deep and throaty. All the sound clips I have listened to are just way to tinny. There has to be a setup out there that wouldn't require me to straight up fab the whole thing. Any ideas?

Also with the 4.0 if you tuned correctly ( no exhaust leak, remove stock intake system replace with a Banks ram air intake ) it will sound smoother and "throat" better. Plus if it's to loud you can reverse the inlet and outlet to quiet it down. I run right now a magnaflow. There is a you tube video of a 2006 LJ with a magnaflow competition series with a RIPP supercharger and diablo chip and that video sounds really clear I would check his out on YouTube

Magnaflow equipped 2006 wrangler LJ

Jim cates or James cates he's got a good set up

I went to Autozone, got a short stretch of pipe and a turn down, cut off the flange of the stock system so I can bolt it up , and got a couple inches of mesh steel screen to provide back pressure.

Slide the new pipe over the stock flange and weld in place. Also weld the tip in place. Roll the mesh enough to fit into the pipe and leave about 2.5 inches to play with. Now shape the end so it wont slide down any more an fold enough so it will slightly disrupt the flow of the exhaust. Now bolt in place. This will give you better tone, less weight, no rubber hangers to mess with, no muffler or pipe to bang up off roading. If you want to make it quieter just add more mesh.

This is the easiest / cheapest route I can think of.

I also have a Banks intake but keep in mind, the computer regulates the intake and exhaust flow regardless what you add to your motor. It will stay with in min / max factory settings unless you fool it to think otherwise I.E programs.

So far I havent had to play with my factory settings yet.

Cheap but idk many things can be said about auto zone. Believe this man is going with the Banks power pack. Think he made a really good choice when it comes down to performance and brand name. God I sound like a sales man haha

Haha haa, Autozone just happens to be the closest place I can get motor parts. Exhaust pipe is exhaust pipe and can be bought from whom ever carries it. If impactorangetj has $1200 to lay down on a kit plus funds to install, more power to em. My $15 cat back does me pretty well so I thought I would share the idea.

Happy Trails

$1200 for a complete exhaust setup... Crazy price!! Lol, but I bet it'll sound good, I know my jeep sounds extremely deep and rumbles even at idle, yet it's not EXTREMELY LOUD neither.

Yea man nothing wrong with self done set ups. I don't discriminate I just one of the jeep Guys who throw $$$ into it not to raise value just what I like to do and I like going for max performance and want to not chose the best brands just the ones that I find in my interest and when they work the way they work I back them up 100% many people have other opinions and they are correct. Jeeps are like dirt bikes just pick the color you want on the model of your choice. Add the fuel you want and the parts you like.
