Exhaust suggestions for my 2.5

I've got a 2.5L 4 banger in my 99 and need/want to upgrade the exhaust.

Here is what I've seen mentioned on the site.

Borla
Dynomax
Banks Monster

Which one will sound the best on my 2.5L? Any other suggestions?

Personally, I believe all of those are way overpriced exhaust systems. You can simply go to your local independent muffler shop and they will custom build anything/any sound you want that will look and work just as good, and give you pretty much any sound you want for less $$$.

Be wary, some mufflers will make your 2.5L sound like a fart can so have an understanding with the muffler shop exactly what type sound you want and that if it's not what you want when they're done that they'll work with you to find a muffler that produces a sound you like. Which is a great advantage to getting your exhaust system locally and not mail-order.

Thanks Jerry! That sounds like the smartest way to go.
